Free Vascularized Fibula for Mandibular Reconstruction

35 year old
lady presented to Dr. Mohsen Fawzy, Consultant and Head of Maxillofacial Surgery
clinic after left hemimandibulectomy was done 6 month ago with ameloblatoma.
20 cm fibular
graft was harvested from the left leg and transferred to the mandibular.
The graft was
fixed to the remaining mandibular stump with miniplates and screws after reshaped it
like mandible.
Microvascular
anastamosis was done to the external carotid artery. The Operation lasted for 14 hours continously
Patient discharged after
one week in an excellent healing and we are preparing now for teeth implantation
in the fibular graft for rehabilitation.
