New Treatment of Liver cancer(HCC) with Hepatic Arterial Chemoembolization in Saudi German Hospital Madinah

A senile lady aged 90 years suffered from right hypochondrial pain(=right side of upper abdominal region) and anorexia (= decreased appetite).
After examination and computerized tomography,a tumor 7 cm diameter was discovered in right lobe of liver
Dr.Ali Abdel Alim Alsherif,the oncology consultant, decided hepatic arterial chemoembolization using a recent new chemotherapy.
The interventional
radiology team under supervision of prof.Dr .Ahmed Sami introduced hepatic arterial catheter, The tumor was rich in vascularity on angiogram.The chemotherapy was infused by a pump over 4 hours then Gelfoam was injected to occlude the arterial supply to the tumor.The lady was discharged in a good stable health thanks to God.
