Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for rare Sinus diseases in Saudi German Hospital Madinah
2006-06-26
An old Female patient presented to our ENT Clinic with blurring of vision , eye pain and persistent headache since 3 months.
Examination by Dr. Ibrahim Abdou FRCS. Our ENT Consultant revealed diplopia, exophthalmoses and increased intra-orbital pressure.
C.T Scan and MRI revealed a large Mucocele in the right Frontal and Ethmoidal Para nasal sinuses.
The extension of this Mucocele leads to resorption of the bone of the orbit medially ( between the orbit and the nasal cavity ) and superiorly ( between the orbit and frontal sinus ), So, the Mucocele made a direct pressure over the Globe and leads to its deviation infro-laterally.
Due to the old age of the patient and general condition with Diabetes and hypertension , patient was operated Endoscopically not surgically through the nasal cavity.
Marcipulization of the Mucocele was done after removal of the Anterior Ethmoidal and floor of the right Frontal sinuses.
Vision improved directly post operative and headache subsided and the patient discharged after 2 days in a good condition.
