By the care of Allah, save a patient with threatened hemiplegia in SGH hospital- Madinah.

A 40 year patient complaining of sever pains in the arm, lower limb with weakness in the muscles of the left hand and inability to use the fingers and the case is complicated by extension of pains to right upper limb, lower abdomen and pelvis and sever pains during micturition and incontinence of urine. The MRI brain revealed prolapsed of part of cerebellum through foramen magnum and so caused compression of the spinal cord and resulted in formation of a big cystic swelling in the cerebellum which caused a trophy of the spinal cord. Dr. Mohamad El- Naggar, the neurosurgery consultant and the head of neurosurgery department performed a delicate surgery for widening of foramen magnum, relief of compression of spinal cord and widening of duramather and surgery takes more than 8 hours and supervised by Dr. Waleed Saad El- Din, consultant and head of anesthesia department in SGH hospital follow up MRI brain revealed disappearance of the cystic swelling from the spinal cord and all patient’s complaints improved and disappeared completely.
