1st International Workshop/Symposium for Laser Applications in Urology with Emphasis
On Prostate Surgery
6th - 8th December 2006, SGH-Riyadh

Aim & Objective of the Workshop:
The Holmium laser has been a valuable instrument for urologist for over 10 years. It is now becoming established as a cost-saving device for treating BPH. Each of the participants will have the opportunity to try some of steps of live surgery under supervision of the expert surgeon mainly with laser ablation techniques. This will be for 1-2 days according to the number of cases.
Expert surgeon of Holmium laser ablation of the prostate (HoLAP) & Laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) will present the technique in sessions.
Symposium/Workshop Structure:
First Part - Explanation of Physics of different types of Lasers & different application in Urology through PPS & video presentations
Second Part – Hands on training on simulators that will be provided by Luminus & Live Surgery transmission from operating theatre to Auditorium.
At the end of the course, the participant will be able to do laser ablation using the duotome side firing 550 micron laser fiber.
