Saving Vision, Hearing and Speech of Three Years old Girl after Sudden Loss Due To Herpetic Encephalitis in SGH Sana a

Salwa is a 3 Y. old girl who was presented to our pediatric OPD as she was suffering from sudden loss of her vision, hearing and speech after being comatosed and feverish for one week. She was treated as a case of Bacterial Meningitis in 4 other hospital in 8 days with the diagnosis( Meningitis and central cause of blindness).
She was seen and examined by Dr. Nabil Shehata consultant and head of the pediatrics department. After doing the necessary investigations the correct diagnosis was reached as a case of herpetic encephalitis. The proper treatment plane started at once and within 10 days from the start a marked improvement was noticed as she started to see and hear, after complete 3 weeks treatment course she was discharged from the hospital with normal vision, hearing and gradual improving speech ability.
